We are enjoying our first fire this winter. The kids are happily roasting marshmallows for smores and thrilled to have a fire. As the fire cooled a bit between adding logs the familiar sizzles and pops sound, then I hear....what was that!....is it something in the chimeny?....is the house going to burn up?. You would never guess that our only source of heat used to be a wood furnace would you? How soon they forget the sounds that once upon a time were such familar comfort to them.
It's so nice to have a quiet evening with my family! I just had to take a minute to share my joy.
